Chimaev surprises and reveals that he understands McGregor's possible 'skipping the line' for the welterweight belt

Undefeated in ten career fights, Khamzat Shimaev prepare to face Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 273, an event scheduled to take place on April 9th. In case of victory, the fighter can qualify for a shot at the welterweight title (up to 77kg), led by Kamaru Usman. Recently, the Ultimate star, Conor McGregor stated that he wants to 'jump the queue' and become the next challenger in the division. When asked about the matter, Chimaev was surprised by his acceptance of the possibility, in addition to calling the Irishman for a period of training.

“When I overcome Gilbert (Durinho) Burns, I think I'm next for the belt, but I know this is a business. Whoever is famous and generates more money, they choose. I understand that, but let's see what happens. If he wants to come and train with us, he is welcome,” Chimaev said on his 'YouTube'.

It does not stop there. With a resigned and sincere speech, Khamzat highlighted that, if the UFC wants to promote a confrontation between Usman and McGregor, there is nothing he can do to avoid it. According to him, the two athletes are relevant to the organization and, therefore, their wishes would be granted.

“If he (McGregor) wants to fight Usman, I think maybe it could happen because the guy is very famous. They can make a lot of money, both of them. That's why if they want to face each other, I think the UFC can make it happen”, he concluded.

In the organization since July 2020, Khamzat Shimaev had a meteoric rise, with four consecutive triumphs. In his last performance, he dominated and won li jingliang in the first round, in addition to not even being touched by the Chinese in the fight.
