This Friday, the sentence imposed on lightweight Reza Madadi, a UFC fighter, was revealed. The Swede had been accused in May of participating in a robbery at a designer handbag store in his country. Madadi will have to serve a year and a half in prison.
The Swedish website MMAViking obtained access to the court documents that revealed the sentence. Madadi and two accomplices were accused of stealing a total of US$150. The group had already been ordered to pay US$104.200 to the owners of the Image Group AB store and a further US$102.525 to the insurance company Alands Omsesidiga Forsakringsbolag.
Reza “Mad Dog” Madadi has been in the UFC since 2012. He has competed in three fights, beating Yoislandy Izquierdo at UFC Sweden last year and Michael Johnson, at the 2013 event. Among the victories, Madadi came to Rio de Janeiro and was defeated by Cristiano Marcello in the most controversial fight at UFC Rio 3, in October.
