It seems that the future of Lyoto Machida he's actually in the 84kg division. Shortly after the defeat to Phil Davis at UFC Rio 4, a fight against compatriot Vitor belfort was considered for “Dragon”. This Wednesday (14), the president of Ultimate Dana White revealed a new possibility for the Brazilian, again in the middleweight category: a duel against the North American Nick Diaz.
“I talked to (Nick) Diaz today, and I made him an offer, so we'll see what happens. He was talking about going to (the up to) 84 kg category. (Lyoto) Machida has been talking about moving to middleweight. So, we wanted to see if he wants to fight Machida at middleweight,” said the manager during a question and answer session in Boston (USA), for the UFC Fight Night 26 promotion.
Nick Diaz, 30 years old, has a record of 26 wins and nine losses. In his last fight, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion was defeated by the Canadian Georges St Pierre, in a fight valid for the UFC belt. Already Lyoto Machida, 35 years old, is a former holder of the UFC light heavyweight title and has a record of 19 wins and just four losses as a professional.
