A possible duel between the welterweight champion and leader of the UFC weight-for-pound rankings Kamaru Usman against the multi-time boxing world champion Canelo Alvarez placeholder image doesn't seem to fill Dana White's eyes much. The president of Ultimate defined the idea of the challenge as “stupid” and “horrible”.

Since last year, Kamaru Usman, owner of five UFC belt defenses and undefeated in the organization with 15 victories, talks about his desire to challenge Canelo Alvarez placeholder image, multiple world boxing champion, in the Mexican specialty. In an interview with the “Sky Sports” channel, Dana White admitted that the Nigerian is serious about the possibility, but took a stance against it.
“He's serious about it, but he shouldn't be serious. I don't like this fight at all. Everything about her is horrible. It's a stupid fight to have, it doesn't make any sense. I don’t know how many people would be interested in watching this”, said Dana.
In 2017, then-two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor challenged the legendary Floyd Mayweather in a duel that broke all pay-per-view records. For Dana White, however, the success achieved by that duel was an exception.
“When Conor (McGregor) and Floyd (Mayweather) faced each other, the fight took on a life of its own. Everywhere I went, people asked me if the two were going to fight. It was building, building, building and it ended up becoming the biggest pay-per-view in history. Something could happen, but this whole boxing x MMA thing is silly”, he concluded.
