Commission releases and Chael Sonnen can use TRT against Mauricio Shogun

Controversial North American was awaiting clearance from the Athletic Commission to find out if he could face the Brazilian at UFC Fight Night 26

Sonnen provokes Wand again: "He's the worst fighter in the UFC"The wait was long, but Chael Sonnen is confirmed in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 26 against the Brazilian Mauricio Shogun. The controversial American was authorized by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission to fight after using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

“The Athletic Commission’s decision followed the recommendation of its medical board. The Commission also analyzed other complaints, but decided to release Sonnen,” said Terrel Harris, commission spokesperson to the North American website MMA Junkie.

As the fighter had already started treatment on medical recommendation – Sonnen suffers from a disease that compromises hormone production – if the Commission did not offer permission for the North American, the main attraction of the event would most likely be cancelled.
