Last Saturday night (12), Magomed Ankalayev overcame Thiago Marreta in the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 50 and reached his eighth consecutive victory in the Ultimate Octagon. Despite this, the Russian did not leave the event completely happy.

In a press conference held after the event, Magomed Ankalayev revealed that, despite the easy victory, he was not satisfied with his own performance and that he hoped to deliver a more entertaining fight for the fans.
“To be honest, I'm not happy with my performance. I expected to have a fun fight, with more striking, but as I said: things are the way they are”, lamented the Russian.
Sambo specialist, Magomed Ankalayev surprised by doing practically 25 minutes of standing fight against Thiago Marreta, known for his striking skills. At the press conference, the Russian justified the decision by stating that the Brazilian's passivity made him comfortable to keep the fight going.
“I expected him to move forward and I planned to take advantage of his mistakes, but he preferred to move backwards and that's why I preferred to stand up with him”, analyzed Ankalaev.
Owner of eight consecutive victories in the light heavyweight division, Magomed Ankalayev took an important step towards a possible title fight in the category. The Russian entered the Octagon as sixth in the rankings, but he is already assured of at least one more position in the next update, as he beat Thiago Marreta, which currently appears in fifth place.
