Signed as Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion, alistair overeem arrived at the UFC with a strong candidate to dethrone the then-belt owner Junior Gypsy. However, an anti-doping test was caught following the knockout suffered against Antonio Pezão they threw the Dutchman down on the climb towards the top. Despite the setbacks, Overeem still dreams of the main world MMA title.
In an interview with the website Bleacher Report, the European said that he considers his next commitment, against Travis Browne, to be a fresh start. The fifth-ranked UFC player thinks a victory will put him close to his goal.
“Yes, certainly (it’s a new beginning), Overeem told Bleacher Report. “I believe that both Browne and I are among the best positioned in the rankings and that the winner of this fight will be one step closer to receiving the chance to fight for the belt. So, in that sense, I know that this fight can put me on track as I still have a goal in life, which is to become UFC heavyweight champion.”
The fight between alistair overeem and Hawaiian Travis Browne is scheduled to take place on August 17th, in the co-main fight of UFC Fight Night 26, an event that will be headlined by the confrontation between Mauricio Shogun e Chael Sonnen.

I'm rooting for you to knock out that idiot Travis Browne who likes to throw elbows in the back of the head...
