The first Bellator event broadcast on the pay-per-view is already causing a stir since the organization announced that the clash between former UFC champions Rampage Jackson e Tito Ortiz will lead the card. However, this should not be the only attraction. Bellator plans to fill the remainder of the card main with title disputes.
Bjorn Rebney, president of Bellator, announced this Monday that the intention is to escalate Michael chandler (lightweight champion), Ben askren (welterweight champion) and Pat curran (featherweight champion) in card main event, providing more attractions for the North American public who will pay to attend the event.
“These guys (Rampage and Tito) stole some of the spotlight, but they are the center of attention. This is all part of a bigger machine, a bigger puzzle. We're going to have Jackson and Ortiz on November 2nd, headlining a pay-per-view and, if everything goes the way I'm hoping, you'll see Chandler on the same card. We’re going to give you an incredible platform.”
Rebney justifies that a card full of attractions like what will be Bellator 106 justifies showing it in a paid format – Bellator events are normally shown on the cable channel Spike TV, in the United States.
“We will have several title fights at this event,” said the director. “It will be on pay-per-view because we will have a lot of big title fights on the show. Obviously Curran defended his title twice recently, Chandler looked unbelievable. We will have several five-round fights.”
