Brazilian promise in the middleweight (up to 83,9kg) of Ultimate, Bruno Blindado has a curious history with a possible opponent for the future in the organization. Days away from his long-awaited confrontation with Alex Poatán, UFC Las Vegas 50, the man from Paraíba revealed an episode in which he rejected participating in a training period with Paulo borrachinha. In an exclusive interview with SUPER LUTAS, the fighter explained the reason for the decision.

“We met on TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) in 2013. (…) We saw each other, we talked normally. In 2018, I was fighting in Russia, I had just knocked out (Alexander) Shlemenko and was going for the (M-1) belt. (…) He (Borrachinha) sent me a message, when he was going to fight against Uriah Hall. He asked how much I would charge to do the camp (training period) with him. I said: 'I don't like this 'camp stop'. I've always liked teams and flags. I'm focused on Russia. I don't like this job, and if I do it, I'll pick a fight with my master.' (André) Dida hates that. I never needed to hire anyone to do camp with me nor did I participate in anyone's camp. I have my athletes in my gym, each one from a different area. I don’t need to hire anyone,” he said.
Willing to clarify the situation, Bruno continued talking about the episode. The fighter commented on the development of the story.
“I explained and he said he didn’t know. After that day, he was a little different with me. He saw me in São Paulo and didn't come to talk to me anymore. He is a future opponent, so continue your career”, he concluded.
A representative of Ultimate since 2021, Blindado is heading towards his fourth appointment with the company's gloves. With three knockout victories in a row, the man from Paraíba faces Alex Poatán this Saturday (12).
