Covington admits performance below expectations and reveals that he let himself be carried away by emotion in front of his former friend

Even with a dominant victory against Jorge masvidal, Colby covington not satisfied with his performance in the UFC 272. Star of last Saturday's event (5), 'Chaos' was honest in admitting that he didn't give everything he could against his former best friend. In a press conference after the show, the American justified what he considered a 'below-than-expected' performance.

“It wasn’t my best performance. There were a lot of emotions in the middle of it. I was a real friend at one point in my career. (…) He (Masvidal) is a liar, a thief. I let emotions get the best of me, but it was still a dominant performance. I showed how good I am. I’m the best fighter in the world for a reason,” he stated.

This weekend, Colby stepped into the octagon for one of the biggest challenges in his career as a UFC professional. Although there was no belt at stake, an ego dispute between two former training partners at American Top Team was on the table.

In the clash of styles, Covington got the better of Jorge. With his high-level wrestling, 'Caos' was able to nullify his rival's striking and controlled his opponent's actions in almost every round.

With the victory, Colby returns to his winning ways. Before the UFC 272, the North American was coming off a defeat against Kamaru Usman, in a clash for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.).
