Fighters mobilized on social media to demand the release of the former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.) Cain Velazquez, arrested last Monday (28), in California (USA), on charges of attempted murder after shooting at a car occupied by three people.

According to the newspaper 'San Jose Mercury-News', Velasquez allegedly tried to kill a man accused of molesting a close relative of the fighter, who was reportedly a minor. Cain, however, injured the alleged assailant's stepfather in the shooting. When asked about possible motivations, he preferred not to comment on the matter and the case remains under investigation.
As soon as details of the alleged motive emerged, a portion of the MMA community took to the hashtag #FreeCain – Freedom for Cain, in free translation – on social media. They believe that, if the motivation is true, then the actions of the heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) end up being understandable.
Mobilization was adopted by fighters like Ben Askren, Anthony Pettis, Marvin vettori, Derek Brunson, Jake Shields, Marlon Vera e Sean Strickland. At 39 years old, Cain Velazquez is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. The former Ultimate champion has a hearing scheduled for this Wednesday (2), at noon local time.

“If this really is true, Cain Velazquez is a hero. There's nothing I respect more than a man who does that. Calling the police is no answer. I will be the first to donate to a 'fundraiser' in defense of him. Pedophiles need to die and can only be fixed with fire.”
If this is true @cainmma is a fucking hero bottom fucking line. There is nothing I respect more than when I man does this. 911 isn't the answer for this. I'll be the first one donating to a gofund me for his defense of him. Pedophiles need to die.. they can only be fixed with fire…. https://t.co/6FWnwA2QD0

“Freedom for Cain (…) At the same time, someone needs to buy Cain some firearms courses for Christmas. This objective could have some effect.”
At the same time someone needs to buy Cain some firearm courses for Christmas. That aim could use some work!
