Makhachev rejects serving as a 'reserve' for the duel between Do Bronx and Gaethje and calls for a fight in Abu Dhabi

During a press conference held after the event, however, Makhachev refuted the possibility of serving as a “reserve” for the next title fight in the category, between Charles of the Bronx e Justin gaethje, UFC 274in May.

“To be reserves we have guys like (Rafael) Dos Anjos or Michael chandler. I am worthy. I have ten wins in a row. I have been training hard for the last 11 months. I'm ready to fight next week at the next pay-per-view, but I deserve more,” said the Russian.

In addition to refusing the reserve role for the next title fight, Islam makhachev asked to fight for the title on Fight Island, in Abu Dhabi, where all his friends can honor him.

“I want to fight in Abu Dhabi. Many of my friends stayed outside as they couldn't enter Apex. I want to fight for the title in Abu Dhabi where all my friends can watch and support me”, he concluded.
