In an interview with 'The Jim Rome Show', the welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg) was not ashamed and revealed which athletes made him feel afraid before stepping into the Octagon.

“November 6th, I was scared. I was scared going into the second fight against Covington. Of course, I was scared. Going into the second fight against Masvidal of course I was scared. That's why I accept these fights. If I don't feel that there is any danger in this, that there is no fear, what's the point?” said the Nigerian.
