Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman reveals which athletes made him feel afraid before stepping into the Octagon

The leader of the under-77,1kg division was not shy about expressing his feelings and said he was afraid before stepping into the Octagon in his last two fights

who sees Kamaru Usman as a 'mental fortress' in the face of rivals who provoke him at all times, he cannot even imagine that the Nigerian also has feelings of doubt before his fights. In an interview with 'The Jim Rome Show', the welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg) was not ashamed and revealed which athletes made him feel afraid before stepping into the Octagon.

“November 6th, I was scared. I was scared going into the second fight against Covington. Of course, I was scared. Going into the second fight against Masvidal of course I was scared. That's why I accept these fights. If I don't feel that there is any danger in this, that there is no fear, what's the point?” said the Nigerian.

Champion of the under-77,1kg division since March 2019, Usman has already defended his title on five occasions and is taking great strides to establish his name among the best in the history of Ultimate. The Nigerian has a record of 20 triumphs and just one setback in professional MMA.
