In negotiations to face Brazilian Gilbert Durinho, the prospectus Khamzat Shimaev does not believe that the former challenger will bring him great difficulties. In an interview with the channel 'RT Sports', the Swedish prospect disdained the Brazilian athlete and stated that, if he faced him, he would 'crush him with his skills'.

“To be honest, I don't see a real challenge in him (Gilbert Durinho). We will see. Anything can happen in a fight, but I'm confident, as always. I think I will crush him with my skills and power. I feel this way. He might feel different, but I'm going to go out there and do what I did last time,” said Chimaev.
The prospect also commented on the injury to Kamaru Usman, wished the Nigerian a good recovery and believes that the winner of the possible duel with Durinho will probably fight for the belt.
“I hope he (Kamaru Usman) recover soon, I'm waiting for this guy too. I'm looking forward to fighting him. But for now, I think the winner of my fight with Gilbert will fight the winner of Masvidal and Covington for the interim title or just the No. 1 contender spot. So Usman should come back and we'll fight him. That seems like a good plan to me”, concluded the Swede.
Considered one of the biggest promises in Ultimate today, Chimaev has been haunting the welterweight division since his debut in July 2020. The Swedish prospect has beaten four opponents and all by knockout or submission. Khamzat is undefeated in professional MMA with 10 wins.
