Absolute at middleweight, Adesanya rules out another test at light heavyweight and says he wants to fight in June

Nigerian leaves his dream of a second UFC title on the back burner and reinforces his desire to seek new challenges in his current division

The victory of Israel adesanya about Robert whittaker No. UFC 271 did not minimize the Nigerian's desire to continue performing at middleweight (up to 83,9kg). Absolute in the category, the Nigerian has currently ruled out a new test in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg), and showed excitement for unprecedented challenges in his division. At the press conference after the show, 'Izzy' spoke about the subject.

“This (new test at light heavyweight) is in the plans for the future, but, at the moment, I would like 'new meat' at middleweight. I’m happy that I have a new (unprecedented) challenger here”, said the Nigerian.

Moments after beating the Australian in a 25-minute battle and defending his title, 'Izzy' already has a prediction of when he wants to compete again.

“I’m looking forward to fighting in June. Not just me, me and my coaches (think June as the date for return). I’m sure you’ll agree,” he concluded.

For the sequel, the Ultimate star has already verbally agreed with his next rival. According to Israel himself and Dana White, president of the company, Jared Cannonier will be the opponent.
