the defeat of Anderson Silva for Chris Weidman complicated – at least postponed – the long-awaited superfight between the Brazilian star and the Canadian Georges St Pierre. However, Spider's adverse result does not necessarily mean that the welterweight champion cannot face a champion in the lower division.

In conversation with the MMA Fighting website, St. Pierre was not direct, but said he still has plans to hold a superfight. As his category is in the middle of the lightweight and middleweight divisions, the star left the possibility of moving down a category up in the air.

PUBLICITY:

“There are things I want to do in my career that I can’t tell you yet – just like Rory. We have plans. You will know at the right time. It's better if I keep this a secret. When it is revealed, it will explode. We'll see. I am very interested. 'Superfights' don't mean I have to go... there are around seven kilos between the categories (middleweight and lightweight, in relation to the Canadian's welterweight). There are many options. We'll see."

By putting your plans together with Rory McDonald, St. Pierre also implies that his training partner could have a clear path to welterweight, in the event that GSP drops in weight.

Before any super fight, Georges St Pierre needs to defend his belt in November, when he will face John hendricks in the main fight of UFC 167, in Las Vegas.
