For the preliminary card of UFC 271, event held on Saturday (12), Douglas D'Silva went up to the octagon to face Sergey Morozov with an eye on their second win in the series. After a disadvantage in the first round and almost being knocked out, the Brazilian managed an incredible comeback with a rear naked choke submission in the second round.

Morozov now faces his sixth defeat – the second in the organization –. He also has 17 wins in MMA.
The fight
Morozov had the first initiative of the fight with a low kick, but was soon retaliated by D'Silva. The two athletes continued their frank exchanges, until the Kazakh hit the Brazilian's chin with a cross, who lost his balance and fell to the bottom. On top, Sergey applied a strong elbow and opened Douglas' eyebrow. Willing to recover and return to the fight, D'Silva left the position and resumed standing, but suffered another fall in the final seconds.
Looking to reduce the loss, Douglas returned with a strong offensive momentum and, in the first minute, showed that he was recovered with a strong left blow, which made Morozov 'hit and come back' next to the cage. The Brazilian, however, was unable to settle the bill and saw his opponent recover. He still managed to deliver other 'bombs' that made Sergey feel the pressure once again. Sensing the good moment, Douglas went to the back, closed the padlock and 'erased' his opponent.
Kyler Phillips returns to his roots and submits Marcelo Rojo with an armbar
Surrounded by expectations for the style of the two athletes, the fight between Kyler Phillips e Marcelo red fulfilled what was promised. With a strong rhythm from the first moment, the North American gained distance, connected the best blows and showed a great level of jiu-jitsu to submit the Argentine with an armbar in the third round.
Phillips recovers from controversial defeat suffered in clash against Raulian paiva, in July 2021. Professional since 2016, he has a history of ten positive results and two negative results.
In turn, Rojo has still not managed to succeed in the organization and suffers his second setback in a row. The Argentine has a record of 16 wins and eight losses.
Rookie of the night, Martinez is unable to 'turn around' the fight and ends up defeated by Lawrence

Mana Martinez had great support from the public present in Houston (USA) and was close to 'turning around' the fight in her debut, but ended up defeated on points. In a three-round fight, the North American suffered from the pressure game of Ronnie Lawrence and was overcome in the initial two rounds. In the final stretch, he even threw a round punch that took his opponent to the ground. However, he didn't do enough to turn the match around.
Martinez debuts with the 'left foot' and his streak of two victories has been broken. He has eight triumphs and three setbacks. Lawrence has shown that he can grow in the organization and has a record of eight positive results and just one negative result.
Wells puts on a show and submits Diamond in the first round

In just his second appearance in the UFC, Jeremiah Wells showed that he has a sharp ground game. On the preliminary card, the North American needed just over 4m30sec. to lock in a rear naked choke and 'delete' Mike diamond.
Wells made use of his experience in mixed martial arts and, as a bonus, achieved the tenth victory in his career. He also has two defeats and one fight without result. Diamond suffers his first setback in four fights as a professional.
Grishin overcomes weight difference and beats Knight by judges' decision

In a confrontation that would initially take place in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg), William knight e Maxim grishin they measured strength for the heavyweights (up to 120,2kg.) after the North American weighed in at around 5,5kg. above the established limit. The difference, however, did not make a difference. During three rounds, the Russian used the strategy of applying low kicks and won the unanimous decision of the judges.
With the triumph, Grishin achieved his 32nd career victory, being his second in Ultimate. In his career, there are now 32 triumphs, nine setbacks and two draws. Knight, in turn, feels the 'bitter taste' of the third negative result. He also has 11 other positives.
