Since arriving at the UFC, Daniel Cormier has been constantly linked to rumors about a possible move to the light heavyweight division. The rumors were confirmed recently, when the fighter himself stated that his duel against Roy Nelson will be his last as a heavyweight. But the threat of a new rival in the division does not seem to be an issue that pleases the champion Jon Jones.

“I hate answering questions about Daniel Cormier, it's just not relevant to me. There are a lot of great fighters in the light heavyweight division. He's not even top 5 in his division, I'm not sure. He's a guy who really just wants to be famous. I don't think he wants to work hard, you can see from his physique. He has short range, poor physical endurance, looked terrible in his last fight. I’m not worried about him,” said Jones, in an interview with the website MMA Junkie.

There is, however, a mistake in the champion's words: Cormier is not only in top 5 in his category as he is second in the Ultimate rankings – behind only the champion Cain Velazquez and the challenger Junior Gypsy. Interestingly, the duel between Daniel Cormier e Roy Nelson it takes place at the same event where Velasquez and Cigano will face each other for the title: UFC 166, in September.

Daniel Cormier, 34 years old, has a perfect record of 12 wins. The North American, training partner of Cain Velazquez, is the GP champion of the extinct Strikeforce, with victories over Antonio Pezão and Josh Barnett. Cormier specializes in wrestling and, in the sport, he was Pan American champion in Santo Domingo (2003) and bronze medalist in Rio de Janeiro (2007).

I agree with Jones about Cormier having short reach, and his physique isn't great either, but that doesn't mean anything, look at Roy Nelson's physique, about endurance I disagree with Jones, just take a look at the Cormier vs Josh Barnett fight , in addition to Barnett having the advantage of reach and height too, that's why I believe that Jon Jones shouldn't think that Cormier is so “relevant” belittling his opponent, he could suddenly be surprised by some wingless pigeon, as happened with.
