The bantamweight Renan Barao saw his life change in 2012. In July, at UFC 149, he challenged for the interim belt in the category and won Urijah faber by decision. Since then, the potiguar's life has changed.

Looking back on the last twelve months, Barão lists his achievements since becoming interim champion. In fact, the interim period doesn't even cross the fighter's mind.

“My life has changed a lot. It was a dream come true. I always dreamed of being the best, conquering the world. Today, I can say that I am the champion of the category”, said the native.

Barão also said that this allowed him to invest more in the profession. “Thank God, I can say that I live exclusively from what I earn from MMA. I can help my family, I bought my mother a house, which has always been a goal of mine. My life really changed after I won the title. I can divide my career between before and after the belt.”

After you won Urijah faber, Barão put the interim title on the line and beat Michael McDonald, in England, in February. In September, he will attempt to be the first fighter in UFC history to defend an interim belt twice. To do this, Barão will have to win Eddie Wineland in UFC 165 co-main fight.
