Paul Philo is back in MMA. The fighter, who for years was considered, alongside Anderson Silva, the greatest fighter in the middleweight division, went through a turbulent time in his career and even announced his retirement. However, the jiu-jitsu black belt is back competing.
Coming from just one victory in the last five appearances, Paulão will be in action in the main fight of Selva MMA, an event scheduled for August 4th, in Rio Branco, Acre. The former WEC champion replaces Francimar Bodão, who was called up to fight at UFC Rio 4. Paulão's opponent will be North American Roney Wallace.
“It is the first time that a fighter from Acre has the opportunity to participate in the biggest event in the fighting world today. We are happy for him and we released the athlete without any problems”, said one of the organizers and technical coordinator of Selva MMA, professor Marcus Augusto Albuquerque, in an official statement.
