A few days before the historic confrontation for the heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) of Ultimate, Cyryl Gane chose to be respectful towards his opponent in the UFC 270, Francis Ngannou. Former training partner of the company's lineal champion, the Frenchman didn't want to provoke and sent a respectful message to the 'giant'. In an interview with 'TMZ Sports', the owner of the interim title used cordiality.

“Good luck, just good luck. Do your best, because I will do mine,” Gane said.

When asked about a possible rivalry with Francis, Ciryl was direct in denying any possibility of a feud. The interim champion guaranteed that he will greet his opponent without any major problems.

“Before, after, during (about shaking Ngannou’s hand). You know how I feel. I have no problems with him. He’s just another opponent,” he concluded.

The friction between the main stars of the UFC 270 gained strength after Francis publicly expressed discomfort with the creation of the interim belt, won by Gane in August 2021. Uninjured and able to fight, the French-Cameroonian questioned Ultimate's decision to select his former teammate for a duel valid for a title.

This weekend, fans will be able to watch two athletes at their peak exchanging strength for the absolute top of the heavyweight division. While Ngannou arrives riding on a streak of five wins (all by knockout), Ciryl puts his unbeaten record in MMA on the line.
