After defeating Jennifer maia No. UFC Las Vegas 46, flyweight (up to 56,7kg) Katlyn chookagian couldn't celebrate for long. At the press conference after last Saturday's event (15), the American revealed that this was her last fight under her current contract with Ultimate and made clear her desire to remain on the organization's roster.

“That was the last fight on my contract and usually when you have one, they renegotiate it. When they offered this fight, I thought, 'I'm about to negotiate a new contract', but they acted like 'No, we want you to finish this one'. That doesn't necessarily mean they're going to cut me, but it's generally not good news. I hope that with this performance, they want to keep me. I want to stay here and I hope I have proven that. I think the UFC needs to re-sign me before I think about a title shot. I have a streak of three wins, against opponents in the top-5. I hope they rehire me,” Chookagian said.

The flyweight made a point of highlighting her history in the organization, saying that she intends to remain in the organization, but that she will continue fighting professionally, even if it is elsewhere.

“They didn’t want to extend my contract before this fight, so I hope I proved that I belong here. I'm number two in the division. I've been in this position for three or four years since the category was created. I have as many victories as Valentina (Shevchenko). I've probably beaten more top-10 fighters than any other athlete in the UFC, male or female. This was my 14th fight in the company. I think they were all members of the top-10, maybe two or three that weren't. I think I've earned my spot in Ultimate and I'm hoping to get a call next week. I just hope I'm still a UFC fighter after this performance. I'm a fighter. I will continue fighting, no matter what happens, but I want to stay here, for sure”, concluded the 'Blonde Fighter'.

The 'Blonde Fighter' has a record of 17 triumphs and four setbacks in professional MMA.
