the carioca Leo Santos won the TUF Brasil 2 title in the welterweight division. On that occasion, he beat his fellow countryman William Patolino in the grand final of reality show and won the six-figure UFC contract. However, the fighter will continue his career in the organization in his home category, the lightweight division.

The information had already been provided by coach André Pederneiras, leader of Nova União, Santos' team, shortly after the TUF Brasil 2 Finale. This Sunday, participating in the program “No Mundo da Luta”, on Beat98 radio, Léo confirmed that the coach's decision prevailed over his will.

“If it were up to me alone, I would be in the 77 kilos category. Not eating is very bad. But Dedé hit the nail on the head, and I’m reaching the (under) 70 kilos division”, said the athlete on the program.

Leo Santos would not compete in the final of TUF Brasil 2, but ended up benefiting from the injury of Santiago Ponzinibbio exactly in the fight in which the Argentine eliminated him. Santos replaced the foreigner and submitted Patolino in the second round of the decision. With a 12-3 record in MMA, the jiu-jitsu black belt has not been officially defeated since 2010, when he lost to Japanese lightweight Kazunori Yokota at Sengoku 8.
