“I have to tip my hat to Sean O’Malley. He knows how to climb. He chose the right path. Honestly, I wish I could have taken a few pages out of his book and had the ability to pick my fights and put in great performances like he does. He’s doing it the right way,” Lee said.

Kevin Lee, who was once also seen as one of the UFC's main prospects, was recently fired from the organization, after four defeats in his last five fights. The 29-year-old athlete said he was “a little jealous” of the path set by O'Malley.

“I'm not mad at him. I'm a little jealous, I'm not going to lie. I'm a little jealous. He didn't have to face jiu-jitsu black belts and in the next fight a world-class striker, then a kickboxing champion and a wrestler. He didn’t need to do that,” said the fighter.

Outside of the UFC, Kevin Lee prepares to debut in Eagle FC, an MMA organization led by Khabib Nurmagomedov. Lee must face the veteran Diego Sanchez at its premiere in March.
