The UFC continues its international expansion plan. The current target to be explored is the Asian market. After two editions in Japan, one in Macau and the announcement of TUF China, now it is Singapore's turn to host the octagon.
Mark Fischer, UFC vice president for the Asian market, informed Reuters this Thursday that the organization has signed an agreement to use two arenas, Marina Bay Sands, in Singapore, and The Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau, for events already in 2014.
“The event in Macau was a tremendous success and I think it served to open the eyes of both the fans and the UFC itself,” Fischer told Reuters. “We are going to do at least one live event at Singapore Marina Bay Sands, which will happen at the beginning of the first quarter of next year. We will have well-known fighters on the main card, but we want to fill the rest of the event with more Asian fighters. We really want to build a foundation and become even more relevant to the local audience,” he said.
