Raphael Assunção and Carlos Diego Ferreira plummet in UFC rankings after new defeats

Coming from consecutive defeats, Brazilians lose positions and start to close the top 15 in the bantamweight and lightweight divisions, respectively

This Tuesday (21), the UFC promoted a weekly update of the organization's rankings. Defeated in UFC Las Vegas 45, last Saturday (18), Brazilians Raphael Assunção e Carlos Diego Ferreira have plummeted in their respective divisions, but both remain in the top 15.

At bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg), Raphael Assunção, who was once a strong candidate to fight for the belt, now appears in fifteenth place, losing three positions after suffering his fourth consecutive defeat in Ultimate. Ricky Simon, who beat the Brazilian veteran in the UFC Las Vegas 45, secured a place on the list, occupying thirteenth place. Who also benefited from Raphael's fall was Sean O'Malley, who jumped one position, moving into twelfth place.

In light weight (up to 70,3 kg), Carlos Diego Ferreira also lost three positions and also occupied the last place in the top 15. Last Saturday, the Amazonian was no match for Mateusz gamrot and ended up suffering the third consecutive setback. With the victory over the Brazilian, Gamrot entered the ranking, occupying twelfth position.

Another important change, this time without Brazilians involved, took place in the welterweight division (up to 77 kg). When winning Stephen Thompson in the co-main fight of the night, Belal Muhammad | reached fifth position in the ranking, leaving behind Michael chiesa, Sean brady, Neil Magny e Jorge masvidal, in addition to “Wonderboy” himself.
