Despite being handcuffed, Chael Sonnen was not arrested, as the police did not witness the charges. However, the former fighter will need to be released on five counts of assault.
According to the report, Chael Sonnen was said to be “punching the door of a room and hotel” and then became involved in a physical confrontation with a couple when the door was opened. According to witnesses, the former fighter had no difficulty in subduing the other man, while the woman screamed and asked for help from the other guests, who called the police. Also according to “TMZ”, no injuries were reported by the team of paramedics who responded to the call.
Retired from MMA since 2019, Chael Sonnen currently works as a Bellator commentator and UFC analyst for ESPN in the United States. Always controversial, the North American was one of Brazil's greatest rivals. Anderson Silva, retired with a record of 31 wins, 17 losses and one draw and challenged for the Ultimate belt on three occasions, without success on all of them.
