As soon as he lost the middleweight belt to Chris Weidman at UFC 162, held last Saturday, Anderson Silva said he does not intend to compete for a title in the organization again. However, Dana White is moving to convince the Brazilian to change his mind. If the president's will prevails, the rematch between Weidman and Anderson already has a date: December 28, at UFC 168.
White revealed the idea to Lance Pugmire, a journalist at the Los Angeles Times. Still according to the director, the rematch between Ronda Rousey e Miesha Tate, previously announced for UFC 168, would be moved to February 2014, on the Saturday of the Super Bowl weekend, the final of the professional American football championship.
Weidman has already stated that he would like to grant the rematch to Anderson. After the post-UFC 162 press conference, Dana White said he will let Anderson think about actually giving up the title fight. The president of the organization expressed confidence in reconsidering the Brazilian star.
