New middleweight champion C. Weidman received just the eighth biggest UFC 162 payout
The Nevada State Athletic Commission, the entity responsible for sanctioning UFC 162, released, this Monday (08), the official salaries of the fighters who performed at the event. Even defeated, the former middleweight champion Anderson Silva received the largest amount: US$600, approximately R$1,3 million. Already Chris Weidman, who took the belt from the Brazilian, ended up with US$48 thousand.
Seven of the twenty-two fighters who performed at UFC 162 received more than the current middleweight champion. After Anderson, the athlete with the highest salary was the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, who pocketed US$240 thousand dollars (half for fighting and half for winning). Among other Brazilians in the card, Gabriel Napao received the biggest check, followed by Roger gracie.
The announced values do not include bonuses distributed for the best knockout and best fights, nor do they include revenue from participation in pay-per-view sales, sponsorships or other similar extras.
