The surprising defeat of Amanda nunes for Julianna Pena, in a fight valid for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg), last Saturday (11) continues to generate buzz. The result, considered by Dana White to be one of the biggest upsets in the history of MMA, however, was not surprising Chris Cyborg.

In an interview with the channel “Combat Sports on Fanatics View', on YouTube, the current featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) of Bellator assured that she already expected that Julianna Pena dethrone the “Lioness” in UFC 269.

PUBLICITY:

“I wasn't surprised. I bet on Julianna Pena because of the five defeats Amanda nunes, four went to fighters with the same style as Julianna. Furthermore, we know that the danger of Amanda nunes It's at the beginning of the fight, in the first round. If you make it past the first round, you can enter the fight. We knew that. Of course, when you fight her, it's fire against fire and what happened happens.”

Chris Cyborg, which was defeated by Amanda nunes in 2018, precisely in the first round, he said he believed that the “Lione” gave up the fight when she saw that she couldn't win, even without a properly placed submission.

PUBLICITY:

“We knew that when she got past the first round and saw that she couldn't submit, she would run away, give up on the ground or something like that, and that's what happened against Julianna Pena. I don't think Julianna did any kind of submission to end the fight. I felt that Amanda nunes hit when he saw that he couldn't finish and that Julianna Pena I would continue moving forward, but I didn’t have a finish in place.”
