With a meteoric rise in boxing, the YouTuber Jake Paul has impressed with his actions in the 'noble art' in front of athletes who have already competed at a high level in other sports. Still, despite his great notoriety in the United States, the digital influencer is still little recognized beyond his performance in the ring by much of the combat sports community.

On the eve of his fight against Anderson Silva, which takes place this Saturday (29) at the Desert Diamond Arena, in Glendale, Arizona (USA), the SUPER FIGHTS tells the story of the pop star who has attracted attention for his performances and 'trash talk' – as the power to self-promote – on social media.

Even before joining boxing, Jake Paul managed to gain notoriety on the extinct platform'wine', where he recorded humorous videos of up to six seconds. Later, he turned his attention to YouTube and had significant growth with 'vlog' filming – with frequent updates on common topics in society.

With the increase in the number of subscribers on his channel, the North American produced and recorded the song 'It's Everyday Bro' (It's every day, brother), but the content did not gain the necessary approval and is the third most rejected video in YouTube history. He has also acted in children's programs on the channel 'Nickelodeon'.

Paul decided to venture into the 'noble art', for the first time, against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib. When publicizing the fight, the two influencers exchanged barbs via social media and, in the fight, Logan's brother managed to prove superior and knock him out in the first round.

Despite the triumph, Jake received great publicity worldwide for his brutal knockout against former professional basketball player, Nate Robinson, in the second most important fight of the event that brought the return of Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. to boxing. Asked about his main motivation, the American highlighted that he didn't need money and was just fighting to satisfy his desire and dream.

If it worked, the digital influencer's reputation increased as time passed. And, despite having only two victories, he began to call numerous martial arts fighters and had his 'request granted' by signing a contract to fight with Ben Askren. In the fight, which took place in April this year, he needed just two rounds to knock out the former UFC fighter.

With an even bigger name, Jake Paul also measured forces on two occasions against Tyron woodley and made a bet that the winner would have to tattoo the name of his tormentor. In a balanced duel, the two athletes reached the end and, after eight rounds, the YouTuber had his hands raised after a split decision from the judges. In the rematch, the YouTuber 'got nothing' with a devastating knockout in the sixth round.

Polemics and controversies

Outside the ring, Jake has dealt with problems and accusations. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the YouTuber was accused of robbing a shopping mall in Arizona (USA), as a form of 'challenge' proposed on his channel and of hosting parties during the period. Still, he stated that he would continue with his celebrations and only take breaks to train.

Furthermore, in April 2021, Paul was accused of sexual assault by a character on the platform'TikTok', Justine Paradise. He allegedly forced her to perform oral sex without consent, but insisted on denying the accusations.

Praise from the legend and 'rival' with Dana White

Like it or not, it's hard to ignore Jake Paul for his recent achievements in the sport. One of the sport's greatest legends, the former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson He said he respected the YouTuber for keeping boxing alive and celebrated people's interest thanks to 'YouTube boxers'.

With millionaire figures, the North American also expressed his desire to have an MMA franchise in the future. And, to that end, he harshly criticized Dana White, president of the UFC, accusing him of not giving due payments to his athletes in the organization. The 'boss', however, countered the comments and joked that Paul had only beaten fighters far from their peak.

Challenge to Anderson Silva

Next Saturday (29), Jake Paul has had his biggest challenge to date since he transitioned to the 'noble art'. The YouTuber measures forces against Anderson Silva, a fighter of which he is a confessed fan and has already bowie in his childhood. Unlike other presentations, he avoided adopting a 'trash talk' style to promote the fight.
