Very well rated in the middleweight category after the overwhelming start in 2013, Vitor belfort maintained a restrained speech about becoming defiant. However, with the increasingly voluminous talk about superfights in Anderson Silva, “Phenomenon” changed the tone. This Friday, Dana White put the brakes on Belfort's mood saying that he finds it “very difficult” to do the rematch against Anderson. Later, the UFC president expanded the list of superfights for the middleweight champion with veteran boxer Roy Jones Jr.
The UFC president's words angered Vitor, who complained about how Spider's opponents are chosen. “It's incredible how it seems like Anderson is the only one who chooses his opponents,” he said. “My place is in the highest position as a challenger in any division in the UFC and it is logical and fair that I be given an opportunity to challenge for the title. Why shouldn't I have a chance? Just because Anderson landed a shot once? I can assure you that, if given a second chance, it will never happen again”, added Belfort, to the North American website MMA Junkie.
Vitor, who has four consecutive victories in the middleweight division, still complained that Anderson is not having the attitude of a champion. “I have proven myself several times. It seems like Anderson wants to keep doing super fights or something similar, but how can he think about doing a super fight if he has a challenger of my caliber waiting to fight for the belt? I have nothing against superfights, as long as they don't get in the way of competitors who have the chance to realize their biggest career dreams”, said Belfort.
