The list of those interested in facing Khamzat Shimaev appears to have gained an unexpected member. Last Tuesday night (30), Tony Ferguson attacked the Russian-born Swedish citizen on social media without mincing words.

“You do not represent the United States. I represent the United States. You represent cowardice”, wrote Chimaev referring to the last challenger for the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg).
Chimaev's provocation resulted in an unexpected response from Tony Ferguson, who spared no words in attacking the Swede.
“The c****** you represent. You can't even make weight like fat Khabib. Sit down and shut up before I make you my b***h. Where were you during the beginning of the pandemic?”, she fired off “El Cucuy”.
Despite the unexpected attack, it is highly unlikely that the duel between Ferguson and Chimaev will ever happen. Coming from three consecutive defeats, the former interim lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) has not played in the welterweight division since he was champion of The Ultimate Fighter in 2011. The “Lobo”, in turn, has already He made clear his intention to win the welterweight title and later the middleweight title (up to 83,9 kg), but never to move down to the lightweight division.
