Gilbert Durinho claims that Kamaru Usman has surpassed Georges St-Pierre as the best welterweight in history

During his participation in “Trocação Franca”, a Portuguese-language podcast on the North American website “MMAFighting.com”, Durinho opined that the way in which Kamaru Usman Dominating the welterweight division is more convincing than the way GSP has dominated in the past.

“The way he is dominating is more attractive than the way Georges St-Pierre does. St-Pierre took downs and did ground and pound, they weren't so convincing victories at times, and Kamaru Usman is winning much more convincingly. He's already the best in my opinion, but I think he needs more title defenses to finish the conversation”, said Durinho.

Gilbert Durinho faced Kamaru Usman in February this year, in the main fight of UFC 258 and ended up being knocked out by the champion in the third round. The Brazilian highlighted the difficulty in applying takedowns to the Nigerian and his ability to absorb blows to argue that he would bet on him in a hypothetical fight against Georges St-Pierre at his peak.
