In search of the trilogy, Covington reveals Usman's alleged outburst to Dana White after UFC 268

With an eye on a new fight with the welterweight champion, the North American says that the Nigerian suggested retirement soon

Even defeated in both opportunities to face Kamaru Usman for the Ultimate welterweight (up to 77kg) belt, Colby covington continues to dream of a trilogy against his biggest rival. In search of his third fight, the American, this time, revealed an alleged outburst from the champion to Dana White after the battle in UFC 268.

“I want another opportunity. I want that belt and to face Usman again, and he doesn't want to face me again. He told Dana and Hunter (Campbell) after the fight that 'the fight was tough. I don't know how much more I have in this sport'. So, you know it could be a mistake for him to face me for the belt, but there needs to be a title at stake,” said Covington, in an interview with 'Submission Radio'.

Beaten by the unanimous decision of the judges in the UFC 268, Colby returned to controversy this week. After reviewing the confrontation, the athlete claimed to have won the duel, contradicting the side professionals. Thus, the North American continued to demonstrate his superiority against his other division companions.

“I'm the best fighter in the world. The first in the pound for pound, undefeated”, he concluded.

Contrary to what he guarantees, the stumble against Usman in the UFC 268 It marked the third setback in the American's career. Even though he lost, the athlete remains first in the group's ranking, behind only the champion.
