Anderson Silva holds the record for consecutive UFC belt defenses. If you win Chris Weidman next Saturday, in the main fight of UFC 162, Spider will expand his record to eleven fights in a row, putting the title on the line and leaving the octagon victorious.
At 38 years old, the middleweight champion has his future questioned all the time. This Monday, UFC president Dana White answered what he will do after the duel against Weidman.
“(If Anderson loses) I would do a rematch in the next fight,” Dana White told MMAjunkie.com. “The guy never lost a fight in the UFC, he beat everyone. If he loses (to Weidman), he will fight for an immediate rematch if he wants.”
What if favoritism in the bookmakers is confirmed and the Brazilian once again emerges victorious? Dana says the next step would be one of the dream superfights. Rival candidates are Georges St Pierre, which faces John hendricks in November, or Jon Jones, which catches Alexander Gustafson In September.
“He should face either one of them,” added White.
