Gilbert Durinho is confident about his future in the welterweight division (up to 77kg) of Ultimate. Currently, the Brazilian is involved in a possible fight against Khamzat Shimaev, which could happen in January 2022. In an interview with 'MMA fighting', he stated that it would be a great fight and he wants to 'exchange takedowns' against the Swede.

“It would be the fight of the night. They would have to pay us pay-per-view (money) because it would be a big fight. We can exchange blows while standing or we can exchange takedowns. He's not going to take me down like he did in the last fight (against li jingliang), but it would be too much. This fight will happen one day. I’m not sure if this year, but I believe it will happen next year”, said Durinho.

Second place in the division led by Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Durinho wants a rematch against the Nigerian and has been offering big fights. In his last performance, the Brazilian comes from a triumph over Stephen Thompson in July this year.

Khamzat Shimaev, in turn, is tenth in the category, but draws attention for its dominance over its opponents. He dominated and submitted li jingliang in the first round, in a fight that didn't even receive a blow.
