The victory over Diakiese was Rafael's first in the UFC. The Brazilian, who arrived at the organization through the Contender Series, had lost in his debut, against Damir Ismagulov, in May of this year.
On the other side, Marc Diakiese lost his second consecutive one in the Octagon. The British-naturalized Congolese had been defeated by Raphael Fiziev in its last exhibition, in July 2020, and has not won since September 2019.
THE FIGHT
In the first seconds of the fight, Diakese went after Rafael, but ended up being hit by a low kick that stopped the fight. Recovered, the Brit began to dominate the center of the Octagon, but the Brazilian was the most aggressive in the fight. In one of the attacks, Rafael managed to land a counter jab followed by a beautiful flying knee. With his rival feeling it, Rafael landed a guillotine choke and quickly finished the fight in the first round.
In the opening of the card, Da Un Jung beats Kennedy Nzechukwu by knockout in the first round
The first fight of the night featured a duel between light heavyweights (up to 93 kg) Da Un Jung e Kennedy Nzechukwu and it didn't take long to be resolved. Still in the first round, the South Korean landed an elbow that shook the Nigerian, even with his guard closed. Jung wasted no time, going after his opponent and unleashing a good sequence of blows, forcing the referee to interrupt.
With victory, Da Un Jung remains undefeated in Ultimate. The South Korean now has four wins and a draw in the organization.
The defeat to Jung interrupted a three-game winning streak for Kennedy Nzechukwu. The Nigerian now has three wins and two losses in the UFC.
