In a post on his 'Instagram', the Brazilian fighter showed the warm reception he received when he disembarked from Abu Dhabi (UAE), complete with shouts of 'The Champion is Back'.

Last Saturday (30), at the age of 42, Glover Teixeira made history by becoming light heavyweight champion. The glory came after the Brazilian finished the then leader Jan Blachowicz. It was the Tupiniquim athlete's second attempt to win the title in the under-93kg division. On the first occasion, in 2014, 'Glovão da Massa' was defeated by Jon Jones in the unanimous decision of the judges.
The victory over Blachowicz was the Brazilian fighter's sixth in a row in the organization. The Minas Gerais athlete's last defeat was in July 2018, against the North American Corey anderson in the judges' decision. The new light heavyweight champion has 40 professional fights in his career with 33 triumphs and seven setbacks.
