After more than a year away from the octagon due to complications related to Covid-19, Khamzat Shimaev had a triumphant return at UFC 267, last Saturday, when he submitted Jingliang Li in the first round without taking notice of the Chinese. In an interview with the press present at the Etihad Arena shortly after the victory, Chimaev challenged Nate Diaz to “see who the real gangster is”. Dana White, president of the UFC, opened the door to the possible duel.

“We are 100% willing to make this fight happen. Let’s talk to Nate about it”, admitted Dana in an interview with the website TMZ Sports.

In four appearances in the octagon, Khamzat Shimaev He achieved two victories by submission and two by knockout and received only one significant blow.

“This guy is nothing like we’ve ever seen before. When you think he has more UFC wins than strikes inside the Octagon, it's insane,” said Dana.
