Cousin of former UFC champion Khabib, Usman Nurmagomedov made it clear to Bellator that he wants to face more capable opponents. After beating Patrik Pietila last Saturday (23), the Russian asked the organization to measure his strength against an opponent from the top-15 of the lightweight division (under 70,3kg). The statement was given in an interview after the show.

“I certainly want a top fighter next. A top 10, maybe top 15. It doesn't really matter to me, but it has to be a top fighter. I need some rest 'cause I've been done camps training every two and a half months. I really need to rest, but that will only be a week. Just a week of rest and I will be back intact,” said Usman.

Signed by Bellator at the beginning of 2021, Nurmagomedov has won his three fights in the organization so far. The Russian defeated Mike Hamel in the unanimous decision of the judges and Manny Muro and Patrik Pietila, both by knockout. Undefeated in MMA, Usman has 14 consecutive victories on his MMA record.
