Testosterone Replacement Treatment (TRT), which has already been the center of countless controversies and discussions within MMA, was banned for fights held in the state of California. According to the website Fight Opinion, the treatment, adopted by important athletes (such as Vitor belfort, Dan Henderson e Frank mir), was vetoed by the state Athletic Commission after a long meeting last Monday (10).
In addition to the prohibition, it was defined that exemptions for the use of testosterone, such as that granted for Frank mir for combat against Daniel Cormier, will also be temporarily suspended. The restriction on TRT is established in the state of California, which has already hosted 17 editions of the UFC to date, until a definitive law on the subject is sanctioned.

The state on the west coast of the United States has a history of being very strict regarding testosterone levels presented by fighters. One of the most striking episodes involved the suspension of Chael Sonnen after his first challenge to the Brazilian title Anderson Silva, in August 2010. At the time, Sonnen appealed the decision, claiming that he had requested exemption due to hypogonadism. The loudmouth lost the legal dispute against the Athletic Commission, his suspension was maintained and, since then, he has no longer played in California. The controversial fighter lost a legal battle against the commission, in which he argued that he had requested the exemption and informed them of his hypogonadal condition. Since then, Sonnen has not fought in the state.
