protagonist of UFC Las Vegas 41, next to Paulo borrachinha, Marvin vettori made a point of clarifying the controversy surrounding the weight established for the confrontation. On his social networks, the Italian described the negotiation process with the Brazilian's team, which was unable to reach the middleweight limit (up to 83,9kg).

“I feel like it's good for me to give an explanation to all the fans about what's going on for this fight. Basically, I arrived here (in Las Vegas) ready to make weight (at middleweight), as always. I arrived and, a little later, they told me that Costa (Borrachinha) was overweight. Firstly, they tried to score 86,1kg, and it wasn't enough. Then, it went to 88,4kg., and, subsequently, to 89,8kg. (…) We signed a contract for 88,4kg, but he said he couldn’t do it and we went up to 93kg”, explained Vettori, on his Instagram account.
Willing to clarify the confusion surrounding the main fight, Marvin stated that he did everything he could to ensure that the fight was not cancelled.
“I'm making sure to deliver a fight to the fans on Saturday and I'm not going to let him get away. I accepted the fight. Let's slap this son of a bitch. It's the right thing to do, for all of us, for all the fighters who strive to make weight. It's very disrespectful of him to weigh 13kg. overweight. I’m ready,” he signed off.
Middleweight representatives, the fight between Vettori and Borrachinha could guarantee the winner the right to regain his title challenger status. Both come from defeat to Israel adesanya, current champion.
