Júnior Cigano opens up about his relationship with UFC and reveals the organization's 'threats' to accept fights

Out of Ultimate since March, former heavyweight champion opens up about his last moments as an athlete for the company

Former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg.) in Ultimate, junior gypsy he didn't get the outcome he expected from the organization. Out of the company since March this season, the Brazilian opened up about his last moments in the company and criticized the management's treatment of his last two professional fights. In an interview with 'Trocação Franca', the Santa Catarina native opened up about the game.

“It was unprofessional, let's put it this way, the way they treated me and everyone else. I wasn't the first and I won't be the last. In the last two fights I had there, these were the terms: 'either you accept, or you're out”, said the former champion.

The clashes mentioned by Cigano represented the fights that ended up sealing the athlete's farewell. The contracts were to face Jarizinho Rozenstruik and Cyryl Gane.

“I've always been a nice guy, because that's how I like to be. So people are nice to me. (…) They ended up taking advantage, or treated it as a weakness, putting me down, I don't know. They tried to take whatever advantage they could of the fighter I built, of the junior gypsy, especially the way the last fight went, a strange thing”, he said.

Heavyweight champion between 2011 and 2012, the Brazilian was dismissed from the organization after four consecutive defeats. The Santa Catarina native's last appearance in MMA took place in December 2020, when he ended up being knocked out by Cyryl Gane.

Away from the Octagon, the Tupiniquim recently surprised again. The former heavyweight leader made his debut in 'free wrestling', drawing the attention of fans.
