In an interview with 'MMA fighting', Fedor explained Johnson's choice when returning to the organization's decagon. The heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg.) stated that the North American was a more suitable option given the current situation, compared to the Brazilian and other fighters who were also vying for the opportunity.
“Cigano, for example, had a series of defeats alongside (his record) and was also fired from the UFC. That's why I don't think it would be very appropriate to fight him compared to Tim Johnson. Not to mention that Bellator came up with a lot of options and Tim was a pretty obvious choice,” said Emelianenko.
