In the week of the confrontation between Paulo borrachinha e Marvin vettori, Israel adesanya decided to talk about the Brazilian. Protagonist of one of the biggest rivalries in recent years in Ultimate, the middleweight champion (up to 89,3kg) admitted to having sent a message to the Minas Gerais native after the fateful fight in September 2020. On his YouTube channel, the athlete revealed some advice given to Tupiniquim.

“I sent him a message after the last fight, saying he needed to improve his team. He had a lot of people 'drooling'. Either that, or you take control of the team and understand: 'I need to be among people who are better than me and not be the protagonist. I don’t think that’s the goal,” Adesanya said.
In the meeting between the fighters, Israel ended up scoring a resounding victory over the Brazilian. With a striking display, the champion retained his title with a knockout victory in the second round.
This Saturday (23), Paulo returns to the Octagon just over a year after the first stumble in his professional MMA career. At the UFC Las Vegas 41, the Brazilian faces Marvin vettori, which also comes from a setback against the Nigerian.
If he wins at the weekend, the Minas Gerais native will be able to regain his status as challenger for the category title.
