Dominick Reyes surprises and preaches caution when returning to the UFC: 'I need to take care of myself'

“I took some time off. She wasn't going to the gym or saying she needed to keep training. I really need to heal. I want to be able to talk to my grandchildren when I get older and that's part of the process. I could be another one to say: 'Okay, I'm fine and at the gym now'. But it's real life and in this sport you have to heal. I need to take care of my brain first,” said Reyes.

In combat against Jiri Prochazka, Dominick suffered a brutal setback – being the second in a row – in the first round of the UFC Las Vegas 25. He now says he had superficial, brain and knee injuries, taking care in the recovery process afterwards.

“It took two months to heal my superficial and brain injuries (from the Prochazka fight). I had knee surgery and it had to take another month or two for that. So, it's been about four months, although it's not much considering the damage that was done.”
