After announcing his return to the UFC last week, Thales leites he already knows his next opponent in the Octagon. The Nova União middleweight faces Englishman Tom Watson at UFC Rio 4, an event that takes place on August 3rd at the HSBC Arena in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Thales, who has an MMA record of 20 wins and four losses, played in the UFC between 2006 and 2009. During this period he even challenged his compatriot Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt, but ended up defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges at UFC 97, in 2009.
In turn, Watson, who has a professional record of 16 wins and five losses, is trying to rehabilitate himself in Ultimate. In his last performance, the British athlete was surpassed by Stanislav Nedkov, by technical knockout at UFC on FUEL 7, in February this year.
The main fight of UFC Rio 4 will be the defense of the José Aldo before Anthony Pettis. Check out the event card so far below:
