Close to putting his featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg.) on the line at UFC 266 this Saturday (25), Alexander Volkanovsky questioned the professionalism of Brian ortega to try to win the title in the main fight of the event. At the 'half day', the Australian stated that he had the opportunity to meet him and was negatively surprised by his opponent.

“I’m not an athletically gifted human being, you know what I mean? I am underestimated for my height, but it was only through hard work and effort that I got to where I am. And I am living proof that anyone can do this or whatever they want. Hard work gets you to where I am, but talent only gets you so far. It's him (Brian ortega) is not professional. He doesn't do what I do. I guarantee he doesn't deserve that belt. He won’t take it off”, said Volkanovski.

Volkanovski and Ortega's relationship intensified during the recording of the 29th edition of 'The Ultimate Fighter'. The two athletes even had intense moments and a certain rivalry during their season on the program and, now, they face each other for the featherweight title (under 65,7kg). Still, in a recent interview, the North American tried to praise and show respect to Australians.

Featherweight leader since 2019, Alex will defend his second belt after two consecutive victories over Max Holloway, one as a challenger and the other in a rematch after winning the title. Number two in the division rankings, Brian ortega will have his second chance to win gold in the category. On the first occasion, in December 2018, the North American was 'run over' by Max Holloway at UFC 231.
