In a quick press conference during the event, Jones confirmed what his advisor Richard Schaefer had said and reiterated that he wants to become the strongest heavyweight in the UFC.
“At the moment I weigh around 115 kg and I feel great. My goal is to reach 122 kg. My goal is to be the most technical, well-conditioned and strongest of all the heavyweights. That's what I want and that's what I'm going to keep working towards. I'm very patient and I know I have a few months of work to do. If someone is impressed with my size today, I can't wait for them to see me back," he said. Jon Jones.
The former light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) revealed that his return to the Octagon should take place in the second quarter of 2022 in a fight for the heavyweight belt.
“I think sometime in the second quarter of 2022. Fighting for the title is what I want most. I want the biggest fights. If there was a bigger star than Francis (Ngannou) who didn't have the belt, I would do that fight, but I believe Francis is the biggest star in heavyweight and he has the belt. That’s what I want,” said Bones.
After the speech thanking him for being chosen to join the organization's Hall of Fame for his first fight against Alexander Gustafson, Jon Jones told the audience that he wants to make the current heavyweight champion “look small” when they eventually face each other.
"I want to do Francis Ngannou appear small. This is going to be difficult,” joked Jones.
